Mardi Gras Time!

January 29th, 2016 by

Did you know that Mardi Gras is only a small part of a huge celebration?! “Carnival”, which is loosely translated from Latin as “farewell to flesh,” is the season of merriment that begins in New Orleans each year on January 6, the Twelfth Night feast of the Epiphany (the day the three kings visited the Christ Child) and lasts until Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras, which in French means Fat Tuesday, is the climax of the Carnival season. It reflects the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season. The season of Carnival, and even Mardi Gras, are actually all celebrated differently from country to country, and city to city.

Well, here at Avalanche Harley-Davidson, we like to celebrate it our own way! We’ll have our Fat Thursday Indoor Bike Night on February 18th from 5pm-8pm. Beads will be given out to everyone, and we’ll be playing fun games for prizes! We’ll also have some traditional King Cakes! If you find a toy baby in your slice of cake, you win a gift card to our store! NoNo’s Cafe will be serving New Orleans style meals for $5, our Harley Angels will be selling $1 beers, and everyone will get another free chance to win our $1,000 gift card give away!! So get your masks and your party outfits ready! We can’t wait for the fun!
